New York City Emergency Preparedness
Support for this initiative is provided through a generous grant from the New York CIty Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

About
The New York City (NYC) Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) has engaged with the NYC home care sector to enhance emergency preparedness capabilities, including situational awareness, education, and training.
In the years following the COVID-19 pandemic, several gaps related to emergency preparedness were identified within the home care sector:
- The home care sector did not have a formal opportunity for inclusion in the New York City Health Care Coalition (NYCHCC).
- The sector has decentralized staff and patients, which requires additional planning and technical assistance for preparedness and response.
- The sector lacks guidance and resources related to emergency preparedness and response.
- The sector has less access to respiratory protection resources than other parts of long-term care (LTC) and health care overall in NYC.
