Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan Training for Home Care and Hospice Available

The Situation Report | March 3, 2025

HCANYS wishes to remind members that we, along with our collaborative emergency preparedness partners at the New York State Association of Health Care Providers (HCP) and the Hospice and Palliative Care Association of New York State (HPCANYS), have made available to you a Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP) training for home care and hospice providers under a New York State Emergency Preparedness Grant.

The purpose of the CEMP training is to provide personnel at home care and hospice agencies across the State of New York with the information and tools to develop a CEMP to prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural and manmade disasters.

As a reminder, the CEMP is an optional tool, not a requirement of DOH; it is offered to assist agencies to enhance and strengthen their existing Emergency Preparedness and Management plans. Agencies may also use the CEMP document and tools as their main planning documents.

The CEMP Training is available through an interactive online module that can be found on the New York State Department of Health's Learning Management System free of charge. You can enroll into the training here.
