DOH Declares That Influenza is No Longer Prevalent in 2025

On April 28, 2025, the state Department of Health (DOH) Commissioner James McDonald, MD, MPH, declared that influenza is no longer prevalent for the 2024-25 influenza season.
Thus, at this time, the regulations (10 NYCRR § 2.59) no longer require all home care, hospice and other healthcare and residential facilities and agencies to ensure that all personnel not vaccinated against influenza for the current influenza season wear a surgical or procedure mask while in areas where patients or residents may be present.
