Register Now for the New York Statewide Sepsis Summit on June 25th in Albany

The Situation Report | June 2, 2025

Join us on Wednesday, June 25, for an in-person, all-sector, statewide summit on sepsis across the continuum.

This summit is being graciously hosted by the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS), located at 41 Union Avenue Albany, NY 12208. The program is planned from approximately 10:00 AM to 3:45 PM, with coffee and registration starting at 9:15 AM.

Registration is available here.

The forthcoming agenda will include critical information on sepsis developments across the continuum of care, sepsis data, program and clinical interventions, and the latest in sepsis related research, education, and policy.

Learn what your fellow home care agencies, health plans, and partnered hospital, physician, EMS, and federal/state organizations are doing in this critical area. Hear the latest in new policies and developments, discuss the mutual challenges, and see how you and colleagues can further your collaboration on solutions saving health, life, and cost.

Home and community based care has crucial roles to play in sepsis prevention and intervention. An estimated 87% of sepsis cases originate in home and community; the highest risk populations are mirrored in the home and community based population; sepsis is the #1 cause of hospital readmissions, many of which are from home care; sepsis costs over $62 billion in Medicare expenses alone; for those admitted to hospitals, sepsis is the #1 cost and the #1 cause of death. Learn what this means for you as a partnered provider and the roles you can play.

At the last statewide in-person summit on sepsis in 2022, there were over 150 registrants from across all sectors and state and federal leaders. The program was co-sponsored by over 21 major state and national organizations. Since this last summit, there have been major new developments in sepsis, including in home care, hospitals, reimbursement, and epidemiology, making this especially timely and compelling.

All major health sectors are being invited to join in in this critical summit. Major partners coordinating this summit include ACPHS, HCANYS, Sepsis Alliance, END SEPSIS, and IPRO, with more to come.
