State Budget Discussions Ongoing - Critical Need for HCANYS Members to Continue No-Pause Advocacy
The Situation Report | April 14, 2025
State Budget talks between the Governor and legislative leaders continue into this week, with seemingly steep separation on issues like criminal justice “discovery” laws, mandatory masking, bell-to-bell restrictions on cell phone use in schools, and mandatory mental health confinement, among other priorities.
Meanwhile, federal actions – both in Administration and in Congress – to reduce federal spending continue to pose further weight on New York’s budget-making decisions, and increase the volatility to the state of while the budget remains in this fluctuating status.
The time is now for all HCANYS members to continue your no-pause advocacy for HCANYS 2025-2026 State Budget Priorities for home care providers and programs, hospice, MLTC/PACE, and workforce. Please refer to the grassroots steps and links outlined previously by HCANYS, and continue to make your voice heard!
A series of budget bill extenders is anticipated likely through the religious holiday, until at least Monday.
HCANYS will keep members closely apprised of all developments; it is essential that members continue unabated in their advocacy for home care funding and programmatic priorities outlined in the links above.
