Budget Updates Remain Few As Our Advocacy Continues

The Situation Report | May 5, 2025

As of today, there have been no budget bills revealed and a fourth budget extender was passed, funding the state through this Wednesday.

HCANYS understands that budget bills are progressing, but their status is still unknown. It is anticipated that with today’s very temporary extender, the Legislature and Governor are on track for passage perhaps this week. No details are available on the Health and Medicaid budget, which as of the end of last week, was still open on many issues, including detailed funding allocations for the program.

All of the items outlined in our 2025-2026 State Budget Priorities document are still at play; HCANYS will continue to push for them.

Starting last fall, and again in January, HCANYS reached out to ALL HCA MEMBERS to request a designee from each agency to serve as the agency’s point person for HCANYS government relations working group to receive high level advocacy alerts, call-to-action, call-to-meeting, and other essential advocacy engagement.  Many members have yet to register their point person.  If your agency has not yet done so, please sign up here; if you are not sure, please contact HCANYS Assistant Vice President for Policy and Advocacy Jan VanDeCarr This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., and HCANYS Associate Director for Policy and Advocacy Taylor Perre This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., who can assist you to determine your agency’s status.

HCANYS will keep members closely apprised of these newest developments as well as any other major emerging issues as the state budget process progresses to finalization, and ultimately, on HCANYS' session-long 2025-2026 State Budget Priorities.
